History
This enduring family was founded by William Baird, senior (1702-c1772) in Old Machar, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, working in the textile industry as a silk dyer. Just a few generations later, at the turn of the 20th century, two brothers of this family were highly decorated military men. Successively, they owned the exquisite estate of Palmer’s Cross in Elgin, Moray
