Dear Friends
Clan Baird is a strong body with a strong heritage and has members in many countries. What we don’t have is a Chief. That may be about to change…
A new Chief needs to prove their senior lineage back to Sir James Baird of Auchmedden, the first Baird to register his arms, in 1672 - a mere 350 years ago - and present their evidence to the heraldic authority, the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh.
Sir James Baird of Saughtonhall, a Founding Member of the Clan Baird Alliance, has done over 20 years of genealogical research and has now formally started the process by presenting a petition to the Lord Lyon. His petition was accepted and was published in March.

The official 28 days of public posting passed without objection and after a pause for the summer recess, the next stage is one of genealogical scrutiny. This will take place at the Court of the Lord Lyon in the autumn.
We will keep you updated with progress…
Yours aye
Clan Baird Alliance
